As of this week, Vodafone has added eight new destinations to its list of included countries. Now, Vodafone customers can use their domestic plan's talk, text and data allowance in more than sixty countries across the planet, including the UK, the USA, New Zealand, and popular locations in Asia, Europe and South America.
The all-new additions to $5 Roaming are as follows:
- Isle of Man
- Sri Lanka
How does $5 Roaming work?
Opt in to Vodafone $5 Roaming, and you'll be able to use everything included in your regular Vodafone plan - including data - for $5 per day (in addition to monthly plan costs). Customers can talk, text, and browse the Web in all included countries, for up to 90 days each calendar year - and you'll only be charged for the days you use your phone.
Even better: if you're travelling to New Zealand, you'll also be able to use $5 Roaming free of charge, from now through to January 31, 2018. All $5 Roaming uses your own phone number and device, so there's no need to swap SIM cards or deal with third-party companies.
To set up $5 Roaming, you'll need an eligible postpaid Vodafone plan. Postpaid customers who signed up to their plan after 23 April, 2014 should already have $5 Roaming enabled on their account.
What are my other roaming options?
While Vodafone is the only Aussie telco offering $5 daily unlimited plan use when overseas, competing providers still sell add-on roaming packs for travelling customers. Optus, Telstra and Virgin Mobile all offer add-on travel packs, which we've compiled in our guide here; you may also be eligible for free roaming deals, depending on your plan.
Overall, if you're looking to save cash on international roaming, we've provided plenty of wallet-happy travel tips in our Everything You Need To Know and Beating Bill Shock roaming guides. And for more info on Vodafone, you can start comparing plans below.
