Bang & Olufsen subsidiary B&O Play is getting into the wire-free headphone game with a pair of buds called Beoplay E8.
The Beoplay E8 is made up of two completely independent earbuds that wirelessly talk to one another, as well as your paired smartphone. Touch controls on the buds' sides let you switch tracks, summon your phone's smart assistant, and answer calls.
You'll get about four hours of play time out of the Beoplay E8 buds, and the included portable charging case will give you as much as two additional charges. The E8 buds will automatically begin charging when you pop them in a case.
In terms of sound, each E8 bud packs a 5.7mm electro-dynamic speaker with 16 Ohm impedance, and a 20 - 20,000Hz frequency range. A companion app will further let you tweak sound profiles to your preference. While the proof is obviously in the pudding, B&O Play has a reputation for good sound quality, and we're hoping this is the case with the E8. Especially given the $449 asking price.
The Beoplay E8 will go on sale from October 12 for $449. If you happen to lose an E8 bud, a left or right replacement will set you back $199 each. An extra charging case will go for $149. Essentially, if you're prone to misplacing small objects, these might not be for you.
